Vision

PERIODONTICS : The Learning Curve

The goal of The Department of Periodontics & Oral Implantology is to prepare students for careers in patient care, academics, and research. Our graduates & postgraduates have been successful in private practice, full-time academia (in both faculty and administrative roles), and both discovery-level and clinical research thanks to this mission, which was attained through excellence in clinical trial linked to critical thinking and scientific method. The didactic areas of instruction include the  basic, advanced & hard core periodontics which includes normal periodontium at the macro and microscopic level, periodontal pathology including intra-oral lesions associated with periodontal conditions, periodontal microbiology and immunology, pain control & pharmacology applicable to periodontal treatments, cell biology, wound healing including periodontal regeneration, dental implantology, case management, epidemiology and statistics in periodontology. Both undergraduate &  post graduate students are largely taught research methodologies in various gradations and choice of interest and keenness. In addition to instructing and advising students on research, faculty members actively engage in basic and applied sciences research.

Our department had arranged various educational and awareness programs which provides field learning for students & awareness for community. This provides community partners with opportunity to solve important needs while providing students with experiential opportunities to study in real-world contexts and acquire skills of community engagement.
